I'm sure you have all discussed this at some point.

Do you vent your JP boards everytime your not on the water??

Also anywhere local to newcastle where you can get some 'o' rings

i personally just tighten the vent when i get a board and leave it, periodically checking that it is still tight. unscrew it if you are taking it on holiday(in a plane cargo hold) but just leave it in, and screw in tight before sailing. it will cause no problems, you could unscrew it to equalise pressure say after the winter(after severe cold spell) and at the height of the summer (if we are lucky and get some really hot windy weather  ).

the more you unscrew it the more chance of damaging the o ring, its seat, the screw and the thread.

you can get o rings from most good car part shops (even a good hardware store) as they will keep o ring kits, are cheap but sizes vary, so take the o ring down with you and get the nearest size bigger and smaller, thicker and thinner, as if the o ring seat is damaged a bigger or smaller one will do the job, the best/nearest fit is best if you have no luck then try some engineering supply shops, you should have no problem getting them over the counter.

I'd have to concur with Steve, tighten and leave alone
unless you're taking the stick abroad

There was a girl who took a Tabou wave board out to Dahab
and forgot to put the said screw back in, sailed all day
without realising - few hours in the baking sun - job
sorted, although I suspect it may have voided her warranty

She still has the said board...

Thanks

Thought as much

I don't think were blessed with the temperatures that warrants the removal of the said screw everytime you sail

Still looking for a 7.5mt sail - a nice Neil Pryde V6 on ebay at the moment

David
