With the annual social gathering of the year at Ulswater fast approaching with BBQ's, beer, moonlit staggers and guitars round the campfire top of the list and fresh water being back in fashion, I intend to head out there possibly Friday night. Is the club BBQ coming, or for that matter anyone else ? It is 19th/20th June isn't ?

Isn't U-water the stuff to be found in the bottom of a toilet?

The new toad mobile should make it across. I still haven't got the roof bars fitted yet, but as long as the fridge is full of beer !

I'm looking forward to it.
Lisa & Daniel - also Richard Stoker are hoping to attend. I need someone to carry me home.

Lets use this weekend to try and get the whole club out together. Im sure it would be something to see, nearly 60 people out on the water and having fun.

I'd certianly like to get over but could not be there until saturday pm and would camp, not like these camp bb&b people

Mike, if you're out there do you have the club BBQ & is it worth having? My recollection of it was a very feeble heat compared with your own beast.

If I can make it (complete with family) , whereabouts is the campsite? I'm trying to get the wife to camp for the first time!

You are looking for Waterside House campsite on the southern shore. Go through Pooley Bridge and turn right at cross roads. Follow the road all the way to Waterside Ho and turn right into the farm yard and on to the camp site. There is a little campsite shop Toilets Shower block, Hot sinks for washing dishes and grassy campsite immediately adjacent to the Water's edge for easy launching.

If you've not been make the effort even for a day trip. Only just over 1.5 hours from home (Cullercoats).

I have a half day booked Friday so hope to be there in time for an evening sail, Friday evening provided the best sailing on both my trips to Ullswater last year.    Toad do I need the wheel Barrow?

Yeah - a wheel barrow, invalid buggy, or just point me away from the lake on the way back, no problem.
I guess the serious party will start back at the site.

I feel sorry for the regular campers.

I may even get some windsurfing in.
See you Saturday noon.

Does any one know if caravans are allowed as it would be nice for a family weekend?  Electric hookups?

I don't think caravans are catered for, although Mobile Homes are welcome.

Check out the website for more info including Tarrifs etc.

Ginge, As far as I am aware Waterside farm does welcome mobile homes and caravans but have no electric hook ups. Park Foot campsite is very close to waterside, they are more geared up for caravans but do get quite busy so it may be worth phoning and checking for space if thats your preference.

For tents Motor homes or caravans, its about £10 a night but no hookups - I checked. There are quiet corners where you may get away with a small generator during daylight hours but I am not sure what the site policy is.

Editted update - no caravans are on the price list on the website (peters link on other posting) so maybe they are excluded - noisy bleeding tourists!
Ginge you may have to debunk to Bankfoot and drive in if a phone call to the site office confirms the bad news.
