Actually Andy I realised I missed a trick as both you and Gavin have just replaced your 6.3m sails. Doh!

THe Ezzy is a great sail but I've been thinking for ages about replacing it with a lighter 6.2 that has a better low-end and that rigs on a 430.

Rationalisation, my dear boy, rationalisation. I want to leave the house with only two boards, four sails and two masts. Not five of everything!

Hell, what next, sell my Carve 121 wood?? Hmmmm . . .

Can you get 6.3/6.2 that set on a 430? I thought they pretty much all went on a 460.

An Ezzy would be nice but I could not afford the rest of the set. Not to mention the fact i like more powerful sails anyway.

Plenty 6.2's rig on a 430 these days.

Pryde Saber 6.2
Loft Lip 6.2
Pryde Expression 6.1
North Natural 6.2
Severne C2 6.5
Tushy Storm 6.2

etc. . .

Can you tell I'm bored? I'm off sick with bronchitis. Glad it's not sailing weather or I'd feel even worse.

I have had the lurgy for a week and am getting a little bit fed up now.

At least there is a promise of some wind for the weekend. I know its a long time away but desperation is setting in now.

Boydy and me picked up some 6.2m norths at bargain prices from ROHO last year, exhire stuff but in mint condition. North instinct sets on 430 mast and works well, suppost the 90kg+ FB's might need a longer, stiffer one (finar, finar.)

I've scoured the shops for bargains but it's obviously the wrong time of the year.

I'm very tempted by the Loft Lip 6.2 that recently won a German mag test against big brand opposition, who couldn't fault it. The 4.7 that I bought a few weeks ago looks very well made indeed - I rigged it in my bedroom this afternoon - bored indeed!

I didn't realise what a pedigree Monty Spindler has (ART sails, designer of world record race sails, etc etc) until I read all the bumf on the Loft 2005 website.

John, what difference do you reckon I'd really notice shifting from my quite heavy Ezzy to a lighter sail with more` bottom end oomph? Much or very little? Am I wasting my time and cash?

Ross, you already know the answer. You get by with 6.3 to 5.5 because the Ezzy is all top end. if you change it you might find there is suddenly a big gap between these two sails.

I would say that sails differ hugely in line with what they are designed to do. I like more power per m2 being "big boned" and hate NP core etc. there just isnt any power in them.

Best bet is to go for quivers of the same sail. But who has the cash to buy all Ezzy or Pryde Combat etc.

the solution would be a 6.2 that rigs on a 430 and a 460 and if you dont the benefits of this by now you aint learnt anything!
