Due to work circumstances, I would need to sell my flight ticket booked with jet2.com. It was originally for Tenerife and cost 140pounds. Name and destinations are modifiable against additional fees that I will pay.

If anybody is interested, please send me a mail.

Nico, I'm sorry to hear this - it's not because you've seen the weather forecast, is it???

You should have mentioned that the date is departing Leeds Bradford 13 Feb and returning 20 Feb.

If you can use this ticket you will also be able to share accomodation in an apartment right on the beach which is already organised.

For other details please refer to the separate "El Medano" thread.

Nico,

John C may have someone interested but you will need to send him a PM urgently and sort it out quickly if you need to transfer the ticket to another name.

I hardly dare to look.

I've also googled "El Medano Weather forecast" and got a windfinder forecast from that.

It's been windless there for a few days and also is forecast to be windless fo the next few days but Windguru says the wind will start on Thu/Fri - see here

Guys, I've been in touch with John and he has suggested that we drive to his place in Knaresborough and then taxi in to the airport from there. It sounds like a good plan as it's on the way.

Tony, your kind offer to take your car sounds like a good plan. I suggest that it would be best for you to collect me in Whitley Bay and then Andy in South Shields before heading down the A1.

Let's finalise details this weekend.

Ross this sounds like a good plan, John P will also be with us he could be picked up from mine with me at Sunderland or it would be a 10min drive to Seaham to collect John from his before heading down. Any problems or if it was too much of a squash let me know.

Tony has a big Volvo Estate so I guess we'll be okay for space.

Nico, I thought you'd sold your ticket?

You told me to send a pm to john C, which I did, and so I replyed "done yesterday evening".

So the ticket is not sold.

Andy, sorry, I forgot about John P, and, Nico, sorry about the misunderstanding, so Tony, the collection rota will be

1. Nico: Cramlington (or maybe Delphine could give him a lift to mine, or I could bring him here first)

2. Me: Whitley Bay

3. Andy and John P: South Shields

Tony, that's five, plus bags. Tony, your Volvo should handle it, do you reckon?

Let me know if you'd prefer to collect Nico and me from mine, as it'll be easier, you'll not need to go searching for him in Cramlington.

Ross, a little confused have you included John P in the arrangements. I will give you a ring tomorrow just to check and pass on the details.

Remember long range forecast are usually rubbish.

Andy,

Sorry mate, my brain stopped working while I was typing that, so I typed "Steve" instead of John P. Corrected now.

I'll call you over the weekend. Sorry we weren't able to meet up for a beer like we said we would - I've been working away every week this year - we'll get plenty of time for beers once we're away!

Yes. I can take four passengers with bags. I'm not too keen on visiting Cramlington on the way down because I always get lost there. However I'm willing to be persuaded if it's easy.
Nico please send me a pm with address and instructions.

It's lookimg a lot better than it was a week ago - check the latest on windguru, here.

I see from Peter's link above they had 30kts there today, on a windguru forecast of 15kts.

Nico,

You were saying that the statistics for El Medano were poor in Feb. Nothing is guaranteed but statistically Feb is the second best month at 64% F4 or above - see this website

Ross,

I remember saying that yes. it is because if you look at this link http://www.dlight.net/html/windstat2002.htm

I had not distinguished the pink from the yellow on my labtop and so I made a wrong statement !

I have monitored the windspeed since the beginning of the month on the D'light website : http://www.dlight.net/html/webcam.htm

The peak has been everyday above 15 knots ! (although I understand that this could happen during the night...)

I also thought it was poor when reading a windsurfing holiday catalogue stating that winter was good for beginner in the canaria as opposed to the summer with up to 85% days of wind above F4 !

Anyway, if it is windy fine, if it is not, I bring my body armor and knew gards for extreme downhill (Following John C offer) http://www.tenerifebike.net/esp/index.php.

Cheers

After further discussions, more details about what will happen on Tuesday, detailed below. Note that I have allowed plenty of safety time, but we can't depart much earlier than indicated as the Tyne Tunnel traffic up to 08:30 is bad:

Tuesday 13 February.

08:45 Tony collects Ross and Nico from Whitley Bay (Nico, we need to find the best way to get you down here in advance - I'll call you later)

09:15 Collect Andy and John P from South Shields. Andy is sending a PM to me with address details.

11:15 Arrive at John C house in Knaresborough. I have address details and route map.

11:45 Taxi leaves John C house for airport.

12:15 Arrive at Leeds Bradford Airport

13:45 Flight LS223 departs

18:30 Arrive Tenerife South airport.

19:00 Depart in taxi

19:15 Arrive at apartment. Bring €150 cash to pay the rent when we arrive.

Nico is staying at mine on Monday night so we will definitely be ready for an early start.

Tony, as I said this evening, an earlier start than indicated will be a good thing - let's try to leave mine for 08:30 latest, even earlier if possible.

Do you NE guys know about the Nationwide Flexaccount?

You take out cash abroad from an ATM using a debit card with no commission at the commercial rate of exchange. This is 10% more than you will get at home.

Dave, please explain more fully.

Are you saying you get more € per £ by using any debit card in a cash machine out there?

Beware - My Halifax debit card charged £1.50 for each transaction abroad whether it was cash or not.

That's what they must mean by giving you a little extra.

The robbing bankers!

Hi All

No, Nationwide Flexaccount is the only debit card that does this. We all swear by it - zero commision & better than tourist exchange rate.

See you all in Med on the 17th

Just looking at the forcasts for El Medano; windfinder and windguru seem to differ. Of course they will, it is how they interpret the data. There should be wind on the friday which we from Scotland will miss, mabye sat/sun but more on tuesday. Windfinder has NE winds at the weekend which cant get around Mt Teide. Here's hoping, son Rob and myself have 2 weeks, he is bringing his Nicon digital SLR with big lense. Smile for the camera!

From the lack of reports we can only assume the guys are either getting it big style or have been skunked.

Hope it's not the latter.....

Spoke to Mike and a couple of the Severne team riders over the last few days and not much wind to sepeak of. It was better towards the start of the week but not so much the last couple of days.

Supposed to be getting better at the weekend  believe!

I hope you guys are getting some good sailing done and the local winds are kicking in strong.

I'm off to Fuerto on Sunday with the missus so hoping for strong local turbulances to allow me a couple of passport days.  Booked in by Flag Beach so windsurfing only a couple of cervesas away.  Sun, hopefully wind and muchos beer and tapas.
