Super 8 is a salalm event up at Derwent Reservoir.

Haven't sailed there for about ten years , but if it's wind who know's

Anyone have any idea of costs , if you just want to sail on the day without entering anything??

Dave

if you don't enter the event you'll have to pay a day fee to sail.

http://www.northumbrian-windsurfing.org.uk/forum/forum_posts .asp?TID=3654&PN=1 (Another link to even more info about it, times etc)

Its £10 to enter the Super 8... like it says on the link, but the day sailing fee is £15 anyway, I think.. Is that right Nick?

Jamie - yes £15 for day sailing.

Ally,

Derwent regularly offers concessions to people taking part in events. In fact earlier this year, we did a 'weekend special' (I think it was £10 per day) which was taken up by several NWC members who came and had a very enjoyable couple of days sailing.

On this occasion we haven't arranged a concession and while you’re perfectly entitled to your view about what we charge for sailing at Derwent, on this occasion I think the tone of your post (expressed with your 'angry' face) and your implied criticism of the club is very unfair.

NWC members are always welcome at Derwent. Personally, I agree that £15 is steep for day's sailing. However, as I have argued countless times on the forum, the club has overheads to pay and is entitled to charge whatever it likes.

It seems to me that time-after-time, the windsurfers and other members of DRSC have gone out of their way to make non-members welcome and provide reduced cost opportunities to sail up there, yet we still get stick every time someone takes umbrage with paying what amounts to little more than the cost of a UJ for a day’s sailing.

If you don’t want to pay £15 nobody is forcing you to.

It would be hoped that All the windsurfers that get to Derwent that weekend would enter the competition.

I would guess that there will be a few DRSC member paying to enter whilst they are entitles to sail FOC.

Hmmm, being the dastardly drsc people we are, we'll have to see if we can plug for that particular loophole

nah .. just sad .. it's what doing accounts on a computer for several hours does to your brain.

..... and lack of salt water in the ears, wind in the sail and it's looking fairly barren upto and including the weekend, what's happened to the fabled DRSC "you have an event, we'll deliver the wind" contract.

I am camping on Saturday night. I would have thought we could sort a BBQ out although I dont have one. I could pick up some disposable ones though. An there will definitely be a few beers.

I am working on the wind at the moment, predicting large high pressure system moving east letting large low pressure move in.  Should be blowing 20 -25 mph by afternoon.

Should my forecast be untrue I can however guarantee the use of the DRSC large gas BBQ and also the wood BBQ. (May also open bar)
